Two Australian-designed RVs have been acknowledged with awards in this year’s annual Good Design Awards. The Australian Good Design Awards have been running since 1959 to promote excellence in innovation and design. The 2022 Awards recognised over 200 services and products across 11 disciplines and 30 categories with over 900 entries judged by more than 70 judges.
The RV winners for 2022 are the Harvok all-steel constructed caravan and the composite camper from Kerfton. We showcased Harvok in an earlier article, highlighting the company’s monocoque construction.
Harvok won the award for their innovative, ‘Suit of Armour’ caravan in versions for families and couples. This was designed by the company’s CEO, based in Melbourne, Ben Liu with the range launched earlier this year. The company has an innovative approach to many aspects of caravan construction including the monocoque all-steel process, their all-electric models and their patented power management system.
The business was founded in China by an Australian who was seeking to focus on developing revolutionary designed and manufactured caravans. The Australian HQ is in Melbourne. The current line-up of models includes the Powerbank range and the Suit of Armour caravans plus their Camper Hub campers.
Kerfton received their Gold Winner Good Design Award for the Fouray – a 4 berth camper trailer. The Fouray is a design by the Australian trio Barry Trippit, Owen Brown and Raul Gonzalez Podesta. The style and design of this camper are truly stunning and matched with functionality.
The company describes the design as bringing a ‘new level of form and finish’ to the industry. The design has auto styling and complements the look of the towing vehicle.
