The first major caravan shows for 2023 are now just weeks away so its time for buyers to start enquiring about and applying for pre-approved caravan finance. Caravan shows and expos are ideal opportunities to inspect numerous models from different RV manufacturers. Opportunities to compare the features and make buying decisions. Often, there are show specials with discounts available at these events, which can be very generous.
Some dealers may even have models that are ready for immediate delivery. Great news for the caravan industry, which has undergone an extended period of very long wait times for delivery to buyers. But being able to buy or order an RV at a caravan show requires being able to pay for it. For most buyers, that will involve finance.
Very few astute buyers will want to place a deposit on a vehicle without knowing if a lender would approve them to borrow the amount required and without knowing how much the finance repayments would be for that purchase price. Both those doubts, which may hold buyers back from ordering and may mean missing out on opportunities, can be solved with pre-approved caravan finance.
Pre-Approved Caravan Finance
Pre-approved caravan finance is a very straightforward way to source a caravan loan. It does not attract higher interest rates or different loan conditions compared with a loan that is applied for after the buying decision is made. Pre-approved means that the loan is approved before that purchase.
We provide pre-approved caravan finance on our Secured Caravan Loan, the most popular form of finance for recreational vehicles. It is suitable for all types of new RVs – traditional caravans of all sizes, off-road models, camper trailers, toy hauliers, camper vans, mobile homes, hybrids and other variations.
With a secured loan, the caravan becomes the security or guarantee for the finances. In most instances, buyers will not need to provide any additional protection. We ensure the interest rate on our secured loans is a fixed rate and that the loan has a fixed finance term. This ensures equal fixed monthly repayments.
What does differ between pre-approved and post-purchase loans can be the loan amount. When applying for finance before making the final purchase decisions, buyers will need to know exactly how much the caravan will cost. Many buyers will request that the total purchase price be included in the loan, which we offer with no deposit loans. But that final figure would only be known once the dealer has worked out the invoice based on the buyer's specifications.
Buyers may choose additional extras and accessories or options that add to the base price as advertised. So, when applying for pre-approved caravan finance, our consultants work with our customers to estimate the loan amount to acquire a firm finance quote and offer.
When the caravan is ready for delivery, and the invoice from the dealer is supplied, our consultant will amend the loan amount accordingly. If buyers don’t know what extras they may want to include, it can be advisable to over-estimate the loan and then, if necessary, that amount reduced at settlement.
Our caravan finance calculator is a great tool to work out how much any extras may add to the finance repayments.
If using the calculator to plan a caravan purchase some months ahead, be aware that interest rates can vary. The rates advertised by lenders are the best for good credit profile buyers for new RVs. The rates can hence differ from one buyer to buyer as we individually assess each application.
Interest rates may also vary over time. RBA interest rates may impact lenders’ rates rises, and there could be more increases when the RBA Board meets in February.
Offers on pre-approved caravan finance are made for a set period. Within that time, the buyer must action the loan or else the offer expires and would need to be requoted when required. But there is no need for you to proceed so buyers can speak with us and arrange their finances so they are ready to purchase if they find their dream RV at a caravan show.
