Tips for a Caravan Winter Wonderland Season

While many touring types and holidaymakers head indoors for the winter, caravan owners know only too well that they have plenty of options to enjoy travel year-round. Winter is the season when many of the grey nomads head to the sunshine state while others, down south, make the most of quieter roads and less crowded holiday parks and signature locations. With your caravan properly prepared and kitted up in your warm gear, winter is an exceptional season for exploring Australia.

If you’ve been putting off your caravan purchase for whatever reason, we provide you with plenty of great reasons to bring that decision forward from the back burner to the hot plate and enjoy the caravan lifestyle this winter.

Caravan Production Levels UP

2020 was an amazing year for caravan sales as buyers opted for this style of holidaying with many other options sidelined due to coronavirus restrictions. The uptick in sales caught many off-guard, as did the whole global pandemic. So it was not unsurprising that caravan manufacturers would run low on stock with reports of long waits in delivery times. But reports are that the situation is improving with the manufacturing sector on track for a record year.

The CEO of the Caravan Industry Association of Australia, Stuart Lamont, said that despite the shutdowns in production in 2020 due to COVID-19, the data for February 2021 indicates that the industry has recorded its strongest start to the year ever. Mr Lamont said this was the highest level of production in the local sector for over 30 years.

While the unprecedented demand is unlikely to result in the usual EOFY sales across the sector, the increased production output should definitely make it easier and faster to secure a caravan.

With production levels peaking, the stock should be more easily obtainable so time to catch up on what manufacturers have to offer via their websites or visit one of the caravan shows which are also back on schedule for 2021.
