Securing Something New, Niche and Unique in Caravans

The caravan market is extensive and includes a good range of different types and styles of vehicles to suit the different preferred styles of holidays and travel. Despite the variations, the traditional caravan retains its popularity with buyers. While caravan manufacturers are continually working on upgrades to their collections with increasingly more comfort, luxury and convenience features, we have spied two new releases which take ‘something new’ to another level.

With the innovative developments in caravans through the hard work of many manufacturers continuing to impress the market, it could be thought it would be a challenge to come up with something that could be considered unique. But the new models from Trakka and Geotrek are certainly attracting attention and maybe that something different that you are seeking in your recreational vehicle.

‘Glampervans’ Hit the Market

We’ve all heard of glamping and many of today’s caravans are way up there in the luxury stakes, but Trakka has released their take on glamping it up with motorhomes which have been described as glampervans. The models in focus are based on the latest VW and Fiat-based vans – the Trakka Torino T2, which is based on the Fiat Ducato and Trakkadu with the VW Transporter base.

The new-look Trakkadu features new seating materials, a handy bed overlay that folds away and integrated window screens. There are 3 variants across the range and all have that signature Trakka luxury. The other new Trakka release is the Torino (Fiat Ducato) with new features including front cab air-con, integrated lighting and other typical Trakka luxury inclusions.

These new models were apparently a hit at the recent Sydney Supershow, so if you’re visiting any other shows this year, make Trakka a must-visit display.

Car loan or caravan finance?

A not uncommon question from buyers of motorhomes like Trakka is should they be seeking a motor vehicle loan or caravan finance? Is it a van or a caravan?

From our perspective, motorhomes are included in our caravan finance category. Motorhome buyers should be considering our Secured Caravan Loan as our most popularly used loan by motorhome purchasers.

This loan follows the accepted format for a secured loan with the motorhome used as security against the loan and the borrower repaying the loan as per the finance contract. If considering purchasing a new Trakka motorhome, you can utilise our online caravan finance calculator to calculate repayment estimates. The interest rate on motorhome loans is the same as for traditional caravans, camper trailers and other RV styles and types. Use our caravan finance interest rate comparison table to find the best deals.

En-suite camper designed to tick all the boxes

If you’ve always shied away from a camper trailer, what would have been your major put-offs? For many, it would have to be a lack of bathroom facilities and the time it takes to set up a camper trailer. They were some of the considerations in the mind of the founder of Geotrek in coming up with the unique design of their latest release.

Described as the smallest en-suite camper on the Australian market, the Geotrek Tvan-size model has unique features and that all-important quick set-up. According to the designer and developer, the set-up is as easy and quick as opening the roof hatch. The system eliminates the need to set stabilisers and other fiddly steps. It can be ready to sleep 4 in around 20 seconds. Accommodation is provided with a queen and two single beds which alternatively can be just one gloriously large king-sized bed. So if you’re covering long distances each day, you can get yourself and your family or travel buddies into a restful place easily. This is a patented set-up system, so it is special!

The other big attraction of the Geotrek range is the en-suite set-up. With a canvas wall and privacy drop-down, the entry deck becomes a bathroom. This wet area has drainage holes, a shower hose and a compartment for a portable toilet. There are set-up options for both a quick stay or to attach the awnings when you’ll be in that location for a longer period.

Plenty of other boxes are ticked by Geotrek with these off-road designs including features such as 2 solar panels, 158-litre water tanks, external cooking facilities and lighter weight for easier towing. Currently, one model is available for purchase from the Melbourne-based manufacturer with others ‘coming soon’. Check out what info is currently available at www.geotrek.com.au
