New Age is one of Australia’s fastest-growing caravan manufacturers, and the Gecko is one of their most popular choices. The Gecko model offers 16’ Ensuite and 16’ Deluxe options with rear door entry and is loaded with features, so you don’t have to sacrifice luxury in these small category offerings.
The compact design embraces the apartment style's signature New Age look, with contemporary interiors, streamlined layouts and several options throughout the selection, including a five berth version with 2-to three bunk beds and the standard drop-down front bed.
Specs
The Gecko is a traditional aluminium sheet cladding and Meranti timber frame design, set on a Preston RHS Duragal steel chassis with leaf spring suspension, beam axle, 10” electric brakes, 15” alloy wheels, light truck tyres, and Ezy lift drop jacks.
Two 4.5kg gas bottles are standard and fitted up-front. The 140-litre capacity poly water tanks are gal-protected and located underneath. External storage is provided in a front tunnel boot; a security door is included, as is a manual pull out step for access.
Interior Snapshot
With an interior height of 2030 mm, headroom is suitable for a small sized van and stepping in, you take in the compact but stylish and extremely liveable interior. Various décor colour and fabric options are available, all embracing a contemporary neutral palette.
The kitchenette is a good size and well-equipped with a 90L fridge standard, a gas cooktop, microwave and plenty of storage. Large drawers plus under-sink cupboards and overhead lockers should be plenty to store your cooking requirements.
The four seater, upholstered dinette is compact, has a fixed table, and has overhead storage.
The caravan queen-sized, fold-down bed at the front is easy to set up and of solid construction. Some larger Gecko models include additional bunk beds to increase accommodation from 2 to 5.
The ensuite is also well-equipped with a separate shower and tool, ceramic vanity basin, exhaust fan and good storage. A washing machine is not standard on the Gecko.
Air Command air conditioning is standard on the Deluxe but an option on the Ensuite version.
